Huge Harry and the Institute of Artificial Art

Documentary

Documentary (student film, 2000) about the Institute of Artificial Art Amsterdam, a fictional institute created by scientist-artist Remko Scha (1945-2015) and his alter ego Huge Harry. The film depicts Huge Harry’s life and ideas, and his collaboration with other machines, computer programs and human persons. The documentary features fictitious archival footage of Huge Harry’s lecture about the future of humanity: “Apes that program” and interviews with scientists and artists including Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) and David Linton.

Selected for Up-and-coming Festival Hannover, nominated at Art Film Festival Trencianske Teplice, Slovakia, Shadowfestival Amsterdam, Netherlands Filmfestival, screened at Gogbot Tribute to Remko Scha and NPO Doc, Audience Award winner Nederlands Online Film Festival. IAAA film page
